The box-on-wheels Scion xB project truck was part of this year’s “Scion xB Tuner Challenge” that pits three designers, including Brandon Leung, against each other to build the best customized xB for SEMA. Each was given a car to modify, with $10,000 cash awarded for the best vehicle.
It features a Five Axis Design 4-Piece lip kit, custom truck conversion and metal fabrication by ADF, custom two-tone paint by ADF, a new clutch, a limited-slip differential, a rear stabilizer bar and brakes.
Toyota has released the new Tundra Hot Rod at the 2009 SEMA Show. Toyota assisted Phoenix-based project partner Sucker Punch Sally’s by providing a flat black Tundra Regular Cab 4×2 for the hot rod conversion. The exterior received candy red hotrod flames, Bonneville moon hubcaps, a custom 1950’s Toyota logo in the grille, and a custom cherry bomb exhaust.
Fender Guitars also made significant contributions to the project. Inside, the Toyota Tundra Hot Rod features Fender Guitar custom radio knobs and installed in the truck bed is a polished wood floor, using the Fender Custom Shop’s finest flamed maple.
